Faust, something to think about

As I said,  I've been reading Faust, which is a clasic nobel from the XVIII century, I've dicovered many things, at first  who is Faust, what I think he is doing here and what will happen at the end of the  book,  but also  as I've been reading,  I noticed many things that  are  important,  even thought that are   little things, and  these little things will lead us  to a  theme, treated though all the   book.

The  motif, in my opinion, is the  bible, the  scenes and symbols that are in it are a basic part of the book because this story is  located during the Renaissance, where the society used to  be  very catholic even thought that  there was science, thy didn't care enough for it. In this case, in the story, Faust is reading the bible,  where he is trying to  get  knowledge, because during Renaissance, it was used to get information just if you were part of the Catholism, and part of the church, mainly, and  he is  an important character from  his  village, because he knows many things, and  by    having knowledge about the bible and what it was said inside, adn how to expalin, yo were considered a genious. This is also  noticed on the scene where he finally  meets Mephistopheles, because as he was  being a good Samaritan, he picks up a  dog and gets him home,   so that at the end, while he was reading  the bible, and trying to undestand  the first part  the dog changed   his form and transform  into Mephistopheles.

The motif will lead me to my  theme, which, in my opinion is  the  way Goethe tried to  explain   life, and the consequences of  the greed  based on the Bible,  in this case, he tried to  show Faust as  someone that knows a lot, ut even thought that, he tries  to get knowledge, explained in  the  treat that he made with the  Devil (Mephistopheles) that  will be his guide into the  things that he doesn't know, passions ans the ways he will see  life, that will have a tragic ending. I think that the theme  in this case, is interesting because, Goethe  tries to teach  us another way to see the Bible, also   in which kind of  stories is the Bible based in  for us to  nderstand, or  to get another idea, because, at the same time,  this story has a  "greek"  side,  because it has parts where the Mithology is comepletlly involved.

To sum it up, in my opinion, this book is mainly based  in the Bible,  because in the  years that  the book was beeing written,   religion   was changed, and  they accepted many things, and  in this case , as it is located in Germany, the religion was important for the unification of the country   based in the principle of nationalism, where people look forward   the same ideas  for them  fo get together as one country, and Goethe is looking  for a way to teach  people about what does the bible says.

school, school and school...

This partial  is no the same as the last one, because we had to change  the book that we were reading, and  who in this planet would like to change from Naruto to  something else? Yes I know, anyone, but we had to. The truth is that at one point I'm not dissapointed, because  we chose anothe book that personally I've read before and I liked, Faust.
This story is part from the Romanticism, lived at the end of the XVII century,  where   they look forward   a way to express  that  was   the opposite of  the Racionalism and   Enlihtment. This  book is  a drama that  is divided into two parts,  the first   is mainly about Faust, who is a common human  that  makes a deal with the Devil, where he says that he will give his soul to the devil,  if  he  lets him to live all the human passions, that will end in a tragic  way; this  is the  part that we will read during this partial,  and  sometimes  that we will represent (the teacher told us to do so), where we will  recognize the words that  were used, and the  format that this book follows.
Weeks later we will analize this book  in  a  new format named "Formalism" where the  reader looks forward  the  time  where the book was tritten, the  topics that is about, and the writer's past, so, that at the end,  we get all these toghether  in an essay where we  choose a topic and we develop it, with this context, and  in this case,  it will help us  not just to pass the subject, but to   really understand this  book,  because it is kind of confusing in some points for example, we could analyse  the  first scenes  and  notice some important thoughts and ideas,  which will lead us to the climax of the story.
As far as I've read about Faust,  I get in love with it, because one of my passions is theater, and  as I read it, I can look at myself representing this play, and from all of a sudden I amd around my room reading it outloud, and  acting like I was all of the chharacters; On the other hand  what I do not like about this reading is that some of the words are not  used in English  and that  this make the reading kind of difficult. Also what I've like about the reading is the way the writter  explains  who is Methesthotheles, my favourite character, because  it seems to be  a real human,  even thought that is the devil,  and all his sides makes him  an  important character, that will lead us thought this  story, and   that will  make  that Faust  becomes  someone he likes.
In conclusion, this partial we will read Faust that is about this guy and  a deal with the Devil, we will analize it following a new criteria, that makes it easier to read it  and  in my case I'lll look forward the  actions that Methesthotheles will do suring the whole book.

Do I know how to write?

I don't know, I feel kind of strange writting 'bout what I do, what I think and  what I'm supposed to do at school, but the truth is that  it also  makes me fell  very good, even thought  that I'm not good at this,   and I think that  I've improveed.

I've been doing this since Elementary school, because at my school they used to  prepare me for the Cambridge Exams, which was divided into: listening, reading and  writing. In the writing part they used to  made us write about an image, or a story; but as I grew up,  this  changed until I had to write an essay of a book or movie,  tell a story with certaing elements, etc, but all  these  mantained me in a box, because I've never had the portunity to write about something I like.

Last semester, as I  was in the IB programme  and in level A3 in English I learned "how to write  good  writings" based on a process that  teacher Paula Kastaniss  discovered and wrote 'bout; but the truth is that I never folloed it, it was BORING and  USELES, because it al started with a brainstorm,   and then a  draft, and to check the draft , then you repeated this  process until you were happy and  you wrote your final  story, esay, etc; and I think that  doing this  as  specific as this is useless, because, as you write,  you   notice what you want to write 'bout next, which  ones will be your concltions and finally  if it is coherent mainly, (I do not think that you will write  aything  without reading it again, even thought that if it is just for checking spelling). On the other hand, I think that this is important, but teacher need  to let you to follow your own way,  because when I'm supposed to write something in a certain way,   I get blocked  and  what do I write are just  silly things, also I never get to a point  that will make a difference  in a writting.

Finally I would like to ask you (and me ) ; Do I write  well? Am I doing this right? is  someone out there reading me and will understand  what I write 'bout? , and also I  need  to add  into my writings "what will this  entree change from  what did I knew?"

Thanks for a marvelous   partial.

what!? a parcial!?

Last week I ended my first parcial at IB programme, and  I feel strange, it seems that last week I wrote you about  my  English class and what would I write in here, and   now  I'm in exams. I know its strange and it feels like iI've been writting to anybody, but at the same time  I feel that I've got  somebody  thinking about what I've wrote.

As I said in my first entree,  this is  for my English class, which is one  of   my top five  of random   things ( and I know a bout those things, I'm a random girl ) because  I thought  that my teacher  would told us in the fisrt class  (in a british accent) " well, hello guys,  this is English A, and on this semestrer we will read the most  boring books that I've found and you will have to write  15 sheets  for your exam where you'll explain    this topic explained thought all the book", but it is the completelly opposite, we are reading Naruto,  writting what whe want (obiously following a  rubric that the teacher gave us ) and  finally   learning about a culture that I 'm kind of  keen on .

This partial in general I learnt  to accept that anything can be literature,  but we must find the purpose of the author  in the  text, also  what  is his background, so that we understand  why he wrote that, because the  context of what he wrote is mainly  the whole story, and also  it is important to know in which other  stories he or she based to wrote this final  text.  In other words,  everything that  is around the author is important to him or her because he or she gets ideas from  everything, and they  combined with  an original story  become  literature.

To sum it up, this  partial  I've done things that I've never thought I would do, and I really do not  regret to take this class  with Wilhem, even thought that at  first sight I thought that he was  bad , sorry teacher! love ya!

That's it for today and wish me well in my exams .D

Themes evereywhere!

As a far as you know I've been reading Naruto  at school, and its very  strange  and difficult for me to  read this, why? because I love manga and  is strange to read something you really like at school  and for an assigment you didn't knew  what's about, and also it s very difficlt for me beause  I have had  lots of homework these  weeks  and   to do something you know you'll do someday because you like, I  leave it at the end and sometimes I forget to read  this (upps!). Getting back to  Naruto and manga and stuff,  there are  many themes  that are important and that  in  almost every manga are treated like honor and  rivarly, and also  demons, but why are they always treated?

The history of Japan,  their beliefs and manners create a  way of writting, as I said in my last post, writters take all these ideas and   they put them in a story like this one,  for us to  read something that might be good, or bad, or even stupid, but that at the end, it teaches us something, and that's the case of Naruto, and  the main topic of this entree. The main  things that I've learned   from Naruto are:

  • Friendship:  They show us  that even thought that we are in a important  place or exam, all by ourselves  there are people behind us, that will help us with anything  and that is very important, because  they really show us that  we meet  people  because of a reason, it might be a red  ribbon that get us toghether or just simply destiny, even thought that destiny  does not exist, just the  inevitable(宛先は唯一不可避、存在しません), and that reason, those people we've met  might be soething important for us at the end, it could be good times or just bad memories, and if we continue to think like this,  the memories at the end make us who we are and  what we've become.
  • Teamwork:  just as friendship, teamwwork is important because we are not alone, we can, and must be with somebody that  help us with anything,  it could be their business or not  but the support we get with  him or her   makes a change in our  way of beeing and the way we  show people who we are.
  • to protect who we love:  everybody has ever loved a classmate  and by doing this, we  create  the feeling that we need  and we have to protect  him or her no matter what, no matter where, that  why, maybe we keep the comunication   at 100%,  and we observe what does he or she do  and where we can help, so that at the end, the answer taht he or she  gives us  makes a difference.
  • hard work:  this can be  explain in a small phrase if you work hard, you get better results, as simple as that.
  • To smile no matter what: this, I think that this is the most important  thing in Naruto, because   we have had those times where  somebody or something makes us something bad and we are 'bout to cry or to do anything that gets into your mind, but if you simply  breathe,  contain yourself and just smile, can change the whole idea,  your day and as simple as that, you can change  the way you live and  vhange your perspective, and  the perspective of the one that made you  mad
To sum it up, the  themes in naruto might change form one to another, we are different people and we think different, so what I  explain here is just what i've learned and  thought about naruto, and it can be right  or wrong, but its ok for me because  that's what I've learned in a  good way, that is  in almost any anime and  that has an application in our lifes, so  have friends, work hard, protect the ones you love and do not forget to smile :D
